How to Convert a Document to Flash SWF File?

You can convert a document to an Adobe ® Flash ® (SWF) file while working in any application that produces printable documents (for example, Microsoft Word, or Excel, or PowerPoint).

To convert a document to Flash SWF file do the following:

Step 1:

Open the document you want to convert in the application suited for viewing or editing that kind of documents. For example, Microsoft Word documents can be opened with Microsoft Word. In most cases you need simply to double-click the document in order to open it.

Step2:

Select Print command in this application. In most applications it would be a command File > Print from the main application menu. If you do not see such a command there, refer to the application documentation on how to print documents from it.

Step 3:

For Printer Name, select Print2Flash Printer.

Step 4:

Set the printer options you want to apply to the converted document. For example, in some applications you can print a range of pages or the selected pages.

Step 5:

Click Properties if you want to open Printer Properties Window to specify the page orientation, page size or resolution of the converted Flash document.

Step 6:

Click OK. The document is converted to a Flash document and appears in the Print2Flash printing application. The progress window is displayed to show you the conversion process is taking place. Please wait until it is finished.

Step 7:

Select File > Save as Flash to save the document in the desired location.

There are also three other ways to convert a document to an Adobe Flash SWF file. Though they may appear easier than the previously described method, they are less flexible as they do not allow customizing the way documents are printed.

  • Drag-and-drop a document to Printing Application

    1. Launch Print2Flash Printing Application by choosing "Print2Flash Printing Application" from the All Programs/Print2Flash submenu of Windows start menu
    2. Drag a printable document you wish to convert from desktop, Windows Explorer or other application to Print2Flash Printing Application window
    3. If you see Print dialog, select Print2Flash Printer and click Print
    4. The document is converted to a Flash document and appears in the Print2Flash printing application. The progress window is displayed to show you the conversion process is taking place. Please wait until it is finished.
    5. Select File > Save as Flash to save the document in the desired location.

  • Use shell context menu

    1. Right click a printable document you wish to convert from desktop, Windows Explorer or other application to Print2Flash Printing Application window and choose "Convert to Flash (.swf) using Print2Flash" from the context menu
    2. If you see Print dialog, select Print2Flash Printer and click Print
    3. The document is converted to a Flash document and appears in the Print2Flash printing application. The progress window is displayed to show you the conversion process is taking place. Please wait until it is finished.
    4. Select File > Save as Flash to save the document in the desired location.

  • From Printing Application
    1. Launch Print2Flash Printing Application by choosing "Print2Flash Printing Application" from the All Programs/Print2Flash submenu of Windows start menu
    2. Click Convert to Flash button on the toolbar
    3. Select the document you want to convert in the opened dialog window and click Open
    4. If you see Print dialog, select Print2Flash Printer and click Print
    5. The document is converted to a Flash document and appears in the Print2Flash printing application. The progress window is displayed to show you the conversion process is taking place. Please wait until it is finished.
    6. Select File > Save as Flash to save the document in the desired location.

  • Note: You cannot edit a converted Flash document. If you need to update the document, you must make changes to the original document and then convert it again to a Flash document.
